Significance of the Bible in My Life?
What separates Christianity from any “religion” in the world is its claim to an absolute written authority from God. Having the Word of God is essential to a Christian’s growth in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. The standards by which we as Christians are to govern the details of our lives are found in the pages of the Word of God.
Basics Of The Bible And How It Relates To Everyday Life
Biblical principles are to guide every aspect of your personal walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Very Words Of God Are Inspired
2 Timothy 3:16-17
The Bible states that all scripture is given by the inspiration of God. The Bible was written by over forty men and every word was inspired. The bible was written over a time period of more than two thousand years. There is no man alone without the inspiration of God that could write such a masterpiece or there would be many books like the bible today.
The Words Of God Are Pure
Proverbs 30:5-6 Psalms 12:6
Put your trust in God an He shall be your shield. The word of God is pure and sharp as a two-edged sword and will pierce to your heart and change your life.
Jesus came to fulfil the law and the prophecies, not to destroy them. The word of God will be fulfilled to every I dotted and every T crossed and His word will never pass away.
The words of the Lord are so pure that every judgment will be a righteous judgment and it will be a speedy trial. The word will be preserved and will endure forever.
Revelation 20:12
The Very Words Of God Are Preserved
Psalms 12:6-7 Psalms 119:160 Matthew 5:17-18 Matthew 24:35
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
God said He would preserve His word and that didn’t mean He would spread it around the world in hidden books. To doubt a complete and perfect word of God is to doubt God himself.
I believe the Holy Bible is the perfect word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit. As we study God’s word, there is more and more evidence that there is only one bible that stands the test of time as being the complete, preserved word of God. That is the 1611 King James Bible. When the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, they only strengthened the fact that the KJV is the preserved word.
The Very Words Of God Are Not To Be Changed
The bible says do not add or take away from his word or you will be found a liar and they will answer for it one day. All of your modern bibles change the word of God to one extreme or another. There are many so called Christians that will fight you on this until the end and defend their bible version. When the debate is usually finished with them , they believe there is no perfect bible and that is just a lie.
God’s word is not to be changed and it has been preserved and always will be.
Proverbs 30:5-6
Revelation 22:18-19
Deuteronomy 4:2
1 Timothy 6:3-4
The very words of God are more sure than the audible voice of God. This is a very critical point. It must be understood that “all experiences” are to be judged by an infallible standard which is greater than any experience. Peter said the Word of God was MORE SURE than the physical appearance and audible voice of God.
2 Peter 1:16-21
Compared To:
Matthew 17:1-9
Because of this fact, which translation of the Bible you use is critically important. While many modern translations and paraphrases attempt to make the Bible more readable, they sacrifice the integrity of the very Words of God.
Because of this, I uphold the Authorized King James Version to be the preserved Word of God without error, and the only one to be used in all aspects of this site and our YouTube channel.
Note the superiority of the doctrine of the King James Bible as compared to other versions.
Satan was commanded by Christ
Luke 4:8 (K.J.V.) “And Jesus Answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
(N.I.V.) “Jesus answered, “It is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.”
Literal Fire
Mark 9:44, 46 (K.J.V.) “Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not
quenched.”
(N.I.V.) Is not found, completely removed.
The Blood of Christ
Colossians 1:14 (K.J.V.) “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”
(N.I.V.) “In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Fall of Lucifer
Isaiah 14:12 (K.J.V.) “How art thou fallen from Heaven, 0 Lucifer, son of the morning!”
(N.I.V.) “How art thou fallen from Heaven, 0 morning star, son of the dawn!” According to Revelation 22:16, Jesus Christ is the morning star.
The Word Of God Is Active In Salvation
I Peter 1:23 says we are born again “by the Word of God.” The Word of God is the agent which brings about the new birth.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says “For by grace are ye saved through faith,…”
Romans 10:17 says “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
Speaking to the brethren,
James 1:21 says the Word of God is “…able to save your souls.”
Paul’s summary of the gospel contains three parts, all ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES.
I Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Jesus Christ died for our sins.
Jesus Christ was buried.
Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
You must believe what the Bible says about sin, your condition, and God’s plan of salvation in order to be saved.
The Word Of God Is Spiritually Discerned
The Bible is learned by comparing Scripture with Scripture, relying on God’s Spirit to teach you and not your own natural intellect.
Also do not rely on any mans’s intellect. If you listen to anyone teach or preach the bible, you should go to the scriptures and verify it for yourself. Get away from anyone that is not sticking directly to the word of God.
1 Corinthians 2:9-16
The Holy Spirit of God will guide you into all truth. He often uses other instruments to aid in teaching such as books, tapes, and preachers. Remember, truth is always revealed by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, any believer indwelt by the Holy Spirit can learn the Bible.
John 14:26
John 16:13-15
The Word of God Has A Unique History
A. The Bible has a total of 66 books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament.
B. The Bible was written through more than 40 men.
C. The Bible fits together perfectly as if written by one man because the author of all 66 books is the Holy Spirit.
D. The Bible was written over a time span of about 2,000 years.
E. The Bible is totally accurate in matters of history, of prophecy and of every issue of life. There are no contradictions in the Bible.
The Word of God has had a profound impact on human history
The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of the believers. It’s doctrines are holy, it’s precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.
Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the travelers map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s character.
Here paradise is restored, heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.
Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given to you in life, will be open at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and condemns all who trifle with its holy contents.” — Anonymous
“It is impossible to rightly govern the world without the Bible.”
— George Washington
I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given man.” — Abraham Lincoln
The Word of God is your absolute, infallible guide
Every major purchase (car, appliance, etc.) is accompanied by an owner’s manual which tells you how to operate it. If you don’t go by the book it won’t work.
The Bible is God’s “owner’s manual” for your life. God would not save you and call you to serve Him without clear and exact directions. You must go “by the book.”
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
The Word Of God Accomplishes Many Purposes In The Life Of A Christian
The Word of God equips you for service, “That the man of God may be perfect (mature), thoroughly furnished (equipped) unto all good works.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
The Word Of God Sustains You. It Is Often Associated With Different Foods.
Job 23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.
It is a complete and balanced diet. The Word of God is likened and compared to many types of food.
Milk
I Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Honey
Psalm 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psalm 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Bread
Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Water
Isaiah 55:10-11 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Psalm 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
Meat
Hebrews 5:12-14 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
I Corinthians 3:1-2 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
The Word Of God Keeps You Clean To Please Him
Psalm 119:9-11 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Basic Questions
Where do I start reading?
As a young Christian, focus on the primary places which deal with your new relationship with your Heavenly Father. The Gospel of John, the Epistle of 1 John, and Psalm 119 are excellent places to begin.
The Gospel of John is written that you might believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
The Epistle of 1 John is written that you might have complete assurance of salvation.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Psalm 119 is written to establish your love for the Word of God.
What if I find something I don’t understand?
You will find many things you do not understand. Don’t get frustrated. Wait for God to reveal it in His time.
John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
The most important thing is to live what you do understand. God will not give you more than you are capable of handling. As you put into practice the things you are learning, God will entrust you with more.
Don’t think you have to understand everything you read. Simply focus your attention on making sure you are reading the Bible and the Holy Spirit will reveal that which he wants you to know.
